Our parent organization just introduced its new name, logo and website. Formerly known as the Flemish Service for Film Culture, CINEA highlights film heritage in all its intriguing facets and all its incarnations from the late nineteenth century until today, always from a film-historical and aesthetic standpoint. CINEA wants to create spaces and moments, both online and offline, where like-minded people can find each other, where there is room for debate and discovery; where both seasoned cinephiles and curious novices can find something to their liking. The starting point is the new website, cinea.be.
Photogénie is also migrating to this new home, albeit one part at a time. New texts will exclusively appear on cinea.be/photogenie, but photogenie.be will keep on functioning as an archive as we transfer the old entries one by one. Once the transfer is complete, photogenie.be will direct you to the CINEA website.
This move is motivated by a desire to bring together all of CINEA's projects, with photogénie acting as both an online complement to the events and as an independent source for analysis and criticism.
Another novelty is that from time to time we will also post texts in our native Dutch, which will mostly be linked to the various CINEA events. In some cases these texts will be translated into English, but this will not be standard practice.
We are very happy to welcome you to our new home and we hope you like what we've done with the place. Do visit often!
